Design Your Own Art Project
At the start of this project, I was given a special role by our Head of School, Sean Woytek. I was asked if I had any interest in creating a new Animas High School t-shirt that students could receive and be acknowledged for by showing acts of P.A.P.E.R throughout the school year. Initially, I felt very uninterested in this project because it would take time away from me creating more personal artwork within the Advanced Digital Art class. After I talked to Sean a week after he proposed this idea, I started seeing this as an opportunity for me to make a long lasting impact on the school after I leave next year. I started this project by sketching out different ideas that accurately represented P.A.P.E.R through a drawing. I settled with the kite idea pretty early in the project and had several other peers compliment me on my idea. To do the stencil, I took a photo of AHS junior, Josh Dearien, and put the image into photoshop to make it look similar to a "banksy" art piece. I then played around with the P.A.P.E.R acronym so that I could use the words to make an outline of a kite. The next part of the design was to create the Animas Osprey logo that would be placed on the back of the shirt. To do this, I looked into several different fonts and lettering formats that would be appealing to students. This part of the project took a lot of peer feedback which really benefited me by allowing me to connect other students. During this project I also contacted Half Price T's on figuring out what kinds of shirts are the most popular amongst youth as well as how the design would look on the shirt. This project taught me a lot of new skills in Photoshop such as warping text, formatting, and also helped me connect with the student body in order to have a long lasting impact on our school.
